We Match Existing & Discontinued Molding Profiles
If the trim in your house is no longer made, hand us a six-inch piece of it. We trace it, draw it in CAD, grind a knife to it, and run it in the species you need — so an addition or a repair reads as original instead of almost-right.
How a profile match works
Five steps, and you approve the drawing and a milled sample before the full run is cut.

Send us a sample or a photo
Cut a short return piece — six inches is plenty — or bring it to the shop. If cutting isn't an option, a straight-on photo of the end profile against a ruler gets us close enough to start.
- 02
We digitize the section
The sample is traced and drawn in CAD at full scale, so every bead, cove, and fillet is dimensioned rather than eyeballed. You get the drawing to approve before anything is cut.
- 03
Knife grinding, or a match from the library
We check the drawing against our existing knife library first — if we've run it before, there's no tooling lead time. If not, we grind a knife to your profile and keep it on file for future runs.

Sample run and approval
We mill a short sample in your species, hold it against the original, and adjust before committing to the full run. Nothing goes into production until the match reads seamless.

Full run, finished and delivered
The approved profile is run in full sticks, finished in our booth if you want it sprayed, and delivered by our own trucks across the Charlotte area.

Why we can do it and a lumberyard can't
We grind our own moulder knives in Monroe, NC. That means our catalog is a starting point, not a limit — any cross-section you can hand us can become a knife, and that knife stays in our library for every future run.
Drawing, milling, and finishing all happen in the same building, so a matched profile can also be finish-matched to the existing trim before it ever reaches your house.
