Ellis-Reid Launches Major Monroe Expansion, Doubling Manufacturing Footprint

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE · [Release date]
Expanded facility, advanced moulding technology, and new production infrastructure significantly increase in-house manufacturing capacity and position the company for its next phase of growth.
MONROE, N.C. — Ellis-Reid Millwork + Specialties today announced a major expansion of its Monroe operations at 6027 Stitt Street, doubling its manufacturing and warehouse footprint to 40,000 square feet while making a significant investment in advanced machinery, tooling, and production infrastructure. The expansion is designed to materially increase in-house capacity, broaden the company's manufacturing capabilities, and support continued growth across its core markets.
At the center of the expansion is a new in-house moulding operation anchored by a Kentwood M500 six-spindle molder, a Morbidelli M200F CNC machining center, a Kentwood R320 movable-blade rip saw, an AR Compact scanning and optimization table, and a comprehensive tooling package. Together, the new systems expand Ellis-Reid's ability to process raw material, manufacture custom moulding and millwork components, and bring more critical production steps under its direct control.
"This expansion represents an important step in building the capacity, technology, and internal capabilities Ellis-Reid needs for its next stage of growth. By investing in our facility, equipment, and people, we can better support our customers while continuing to protect the craftsmanship and service on which the company was built." — Tyler Privette, Owner and President, Ellis-Reid Millwork + Specialties
The expanded space is being built out to support significantly greater manufacturing throughput and material movement, including upgraded electrical service, dust-collection connections, compressed-air lines, concrete work, lighting, racking, and production-flow improvements. The new layout is engineered to improve the movement of material from receiving and preparation through manufacturing, staging, and delivery while creating capacity for additional equipment and future production lines.
Growing the team
To support the expanded operation, Ellis-Reid is growing its team across engineering, drafting, sales, trim carpentry, and production. Open positions are listed at ellis-reid.com/careers.
Expanded manufacturing platform and capabilities
The investment significantly expands Ellis-Reid's platform across custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, mouldings, trim packages, material supply, and related project services. By increasing its physical footprint and adding specialized production technology, the company is building a more vertically integrated operation with greater control over manufacturing, quality, scheduling, and execution across a wider range of project requirements.
The physical expansion is paired with continued investment in EROS, the company's proprietary operating platform, for project visibility, accountability, workflow management, purchasing, work orders, and performance reporting, creating clearer handoffs from estimating and drafting through production, delivery, and installation.
A new Midtown Charlotte Design & Product Center
The Monroe expansion will be complemented by the new Ellis-Reid Midtown Charlotte Design & Product Center, opening in Q2 2027. More than a showroom, the center will give builders, architects, designers, and homeowners a client-facing place to explore materials, develop selections, and collaborate directly with the Ellis-Reid team, connecting design decisions in Charlotte with manufacturing in Monroe. All of this is designed to support clients' growing needs as the luxury home market in Charlotte continues to expand.
"Our goal is not simply to add square footage or machines. It is to build a more capable and disciplined operation that can respond faster, produce consistently, and give our customers increased confidence as their projects move from concept through completion." — Ernie Benton, Chief Operating Officer
Ellis-Reid's growth strategy remains centered on its North Carolina market while building the infrastructure and capabilities to serve larger projects, broader customer needs, and additional growth opportunities. The Monroe expansion gives the company substantially more capacity to support existing customers, pursue new work, expand in-house production, and continue developing a skilled local workforce across manufacturing, millwork, cabinetry, logistics, and project execution.
